Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) identifies and evaluates the likely environmental effects of a new project or expansion before it goes ahead. In Bangladesh, an EIA is required by the Department of Environment for higher-impact industrial projects to obtain Environmental Clearance, and it is often requested by lenders and international buyers.
